Does anyone know how to go about changing a child's last name in Tennessee? The father's name is on the birth certificate but we were never married. we went to court for domestic violence, he admitted to neglecting our son and I was given full custody. I want to change both my children's last names to mine since their father is not really involved in their lives, does not pay child support, rarely sees them. Does anyone know if I have to have his consent and if there is a way to do it without going to court?
