Everything goes in mouth

Anyone else having this issue with their 1 year old? My daughter turned 1 end of November and she will literally put ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING in her mouth. I mean I have to watch her like a hawk, not that there is anything obviously dangerous lying around. But for example I caught her trying to eat little pieces of carpet our cat had scratched up. Also, she chewed apart a spine of one of her favorite books.

Like I know this is normally just a phase, but when does it normally end?!
