Any other nov 2018 toddlers not talking?

Feeling defeated 😔 he says about 50 words but only when he wants to. He will not repeat words, no two word phrases. No interactions with other children bc of covid... I’m a sahm so I talk to him all day.

Mine has less than 15 words. I’ve talked to a speed he therapist twice ( phone appointment bc COVID). Both times there’s was not too much concern, was told to call back at 2.5 yrs old if she is still under 25 words. She understands instruction, points to all her body parts, and the few words she knows are “good quality” words. I feel this past week she has been trying to say a lot more. I’m surprised, like a light switched. Pediatrician did say to expect behavior problems bc lack of communication. Buy a book with facial expression your LO can point to

We just had our 2 year well visit and the pediatrician said my sons speech was normal for a boy his age. He probably has anywhere from 50-100 words. I point out the “boy” part because she was very clear on the differences in speech development between boys and girls. She was saying at age 2, yes, girls should be saying a handful of words and have a bunch of 2-word phrases. But boys, she said, need until about 2.5 years old to be on that level. It’s just a developmental fact. So make sure you don’t compare your son to girls his age!
Also, I truly believe that toddlers will talk when they are ready. I saw it with my older son and I’ve seen it with so many other kids.

Mine is the exact same way. It’s clear she understands words I say, but just won’t say them herself. Also frustrating that she won’t repeat words she knows how to say! Arg. She’s so independent. I debate all the time about speech therapy, but with covid I highly doubt she’d be able to sit in front of a screen for more than a minute. Just keep on, I suppose!

Try watching Ryan’s Mystery Playdate (nick jr) it really helped my son learn how to take turns and increased his vocabulary. I used to hate the show but since he has no interaction with other kids due to covid I finally gave in!

My 2 year old son (Nov 13) started speech therapy in September. He qualified for early intervention so it’s no cost.
I was concerned about his speech. He only would say words when he wanted to. But his comprehension is very good (he listens to Instructions; I.e get the car). 
I’ve noticed a big difference these last few months after starting virtual speech therapy. The SLP teaches me how to communicate better with him to bring out his speech. And we just started in-person at daycare.

Is your kid a visual learner? They will get more out of seeing you say the words. Is your kid an auditory learner? They will get more when you make them repeat the words. 
My baby boy is visual he’s 9 months and already trying to sound out words by looking at how my mouth moves. The same for my 3.5 year old. 
My November girl was talking gibberish bc she’s doesn’t really look at me when talking     I make her repeat any instructions I give her. So make her repeat “climb up” and then “sit down”. Doing that for two days straight and she immediately started saying more on the 3rd day. Correct the gibberish and make them point to what they’re talking about then repeat the right words.

My toddler is not talking in sentences either but he's been saying new words every now and then. He understands what i say and knows his ABC's ,few numbers and know 2 body parts but that's just about it. At his 2 year appointment I was asked to take him back in 2months to see if he's improved and then a decision can be made from there. I honestly im not worried because he's done things on his time and I know he will when he's ready.

At my 2 year appointment they only asked for 10 words so 50 would not worry me.
