Fifth grade teacher here! My favorite gifts are handwritten notes/cards! Anything really! It’s just nice to be thought of. Just no more mugs.. please!

My daughter is in preschool and there’s only two teachers. They each got a handmade card with a nice note, a book, homemade cookies, and a $25 Amazon gift card. And they loved it. Once she has more teachers it will be less.

I appreciate all gifts from my students (middle school). I’ve been given a wide range of price point items from dollar store ornaments to a soft sided cooler with the school logo embroidered on it. I am equally grateful for them all. I would also be more than happy to receive a card with a genuine handwritten note, especially if the student wrote it. I save all of those and they really make my day. I got an emailed note on Thanksgiving from a student and it was just such a joy to read. 
Generally, parents gift in the $5 range because kids have 8-9 teachers in middle school. In elementary, they have usually 3-4 (if you include specials like music, phy ed, etc). Our kids aren’t in school yet but when they are we’ll likely do treat boxes (I enjoy baking macarons, which are an expensive cookie) or something specific to the teacher (alcohol if they drink, coffee if they like it, etc).

I’m a teacher. I would just say avoid candles and mugs. And be careful with food because you never know what a teacher actually likes or doesn’t like. Gift cards are always nice. Especially ones to Target.

$10 Starbucks gift card. I got a 4 pack from Target and put it in a holiday card. Simple as that.

I’m a teacher, over the years gifts have ranged from nothing to usually around $25.  Honestly, a heartfelt card with a nice note inside is enough for me. Otherwise something small is fine. Don’t spend a lot on something they may not like or need. A coffee gift card, chocolate, a small hand lotion, no need for something big.

I’m a teacher. I love getting cards from my students- especially home made cards from younger students. 
I’m a chocoholic so also like chocolate but also know that it is probably the most common gift.
Mugs are also very common gifts so I really don’t need any more but it is the thought that counts.
Vouchers are great- I’ve been given vouchers for a local cafe, supermarket, target, etc.
One year the families in my class pooled together and got me a day spa voucher- that was the best gift ever!
I’d say most families spend between $5-10 but some just give a card and some do give very generous gifts.

I'm a teacher. Families that choose to give gifts usually do $5-$10 range with some higher exceptions...but I teach middle school so some families are gifting to multiple teachers. I personally really like a genuine kind and specific message from a student...but also like chocolate and gift cards.

We have a fancy ice cream shop in town so I got my daughter’s teachers (and some of the staff) $10 gift cards to the ice cream shop.
As a coach myself, I’m never mad at a coffee shop gift card.
