Terrible 2s emotions
Is anyone else seriously drained by their 2 year olds’ emotions? Mine has just been exhausting for the past several months, especially since the new baby came home at the end of July. Lots of shouting/yelling at us, refusing help but losing patience quickly and melting down before asking for help, and tantrums when doing something she doesn’t want to do or when we don’t do something as she wants it done.
We are trying to remain patient and remind her that we do not yell at each other, asking her to try speaking again with a kinder voice, stay firm with boundaries (I.e., I. Need to be in the kitchen to make dinner and cannot come play with you - you can stay with me and help or go play by yourself) and not yell back at her. But it’s hard to keep our cool by the day when we are trying to get dinner done with a fussy 8 week old on top of it. My husband and I feel like there’s just constant yelling and crying from one of the from 5 pm to 8 pm, not to mention during the day. It also doesn’t help that the 2 year old is refusing to nap many days...
Please tell me I’m not alone!
