What is this?

Went to the doctor monday and he said I am 2.5 to 3 cm dilated and that she should be here this week or begining of next week. So last night I had two strong contractions and then they just stopped. Well I woke up this morning with a constant period cramp it has been 4 hours now with no change. It is not coming and going just constantly cramping but it does seem to get stronger here and there but never fully goes away. Can someone please help. Have you had this before? What was the outcome?
