Too Independent??

Question

I am the type of person where I don’t like depending on people, not even family. Especially my boyfriend, he be offering me help and I don’t be wanting to take it. When he ask me something, I don’t be feeling right. I am tired of depending on folks and I wanna be independent and take my own steps. But I am only 21, so I know I shouldn’t put so much pressure on myself. My family says I am too independent. I want to break this thinking, am I too independent

I don't think someone can actually be too independent.
Parents say that a lot about their children because they want them to stay children longer and miss being needed by their child.

I'm pretty independent myself..  even though you can do things, letting your boyfriend help with certain things will make him feel wanted and needed and helps him feel better about himself.

I'm the same way but learning to ease up on it. The only time I feel you can be too independent is if it effects your mental or physical health in any way. I grew up always having to ask for help because of my living situation, so I hate having to ask at all. Even from my mom or bf. 
Just know, at some point in your life you will need to ask for help, it'll come eventually. Sometimes you just have to swallow the frog, put your pride to the side and ask. Im learning that its okay. Family, friends and partners are suppose to help, thats why we them view them all as dependable and loved ones. As a species, humans are not designed to be alone. We will become depressed, anxious and sometimes go crazy without human contact. 
Have you ever help someone, anyone? Giving a homeless person a few bucks, giving someone a ride, held the door for a senior, helped someone with errands? And I don't mean because you had to, but because you wanted to. Doesn't it make you feel good that you helped someone or that they're doing good because of you?
You'll realize that people help each other most times not because they are obligated or expect something in return, but because it makes them feel good to know you are taken care of. 
We all need help sometimes, and anyone who says they don't or never did, they are lying. It is what it is 🤷
