Accutane and no pregnancy

So I’m 20 and in college and not wanting a baby yet let me start with that.

I’ve had pretty bad acne flare ups and red skin and my dermatologist doesn’t really know why I haven’t gotten better with the stuff she prescribed. So she wants to start me on a low dose of accutane but idk I’m nervous about it for some reason even though my skin is my biggest insecurity.

I’m probably nervous because she was really emphasizing how I cannot be pregnant and I’ll have to guarantee that I’m two forms of birth control or abstinent. And well I just started seeing someone and just started having sex. I’m not on birth control like a pill I just use condoms. Idk if I could just get on birth control especially because I feel like I’d have to tell my mom and I don’t need her to know I’m having sex lol.

So would it be bad to be on accutane and just have sex with condoms? Or is accutane even worth it?

It also stresses me out because I’d have to get blood tests every month and I’d have to go home for the derm appt every month and I live 1 1/2 hours away for school.
