Feeling put off

My daughter is 2 1/2 and is so obsessed with Santa. For Christmas eve, I let her pick out cookies and either an apple or carrot. Even though we had homemade cookies, she picked ones from a package and wanted to leave a big carrot. I posted an adorable picture of her on IG and someone said “Are we not going to talk about the meal?” And I said, “That was for Santa and his reindeer.” Their response was, “Santa must have skipped your house then.” First off, I felt a tad put off because yes, store bought cookies on a Peppa Pig plate with a big carrot may have seemed silly to some, but it was exciting for my little girl. Her face said it all. And then I’m like...what the f? Making fun of a 2.5 year old? This is someone who I am not friends with much anymore, it’s a guy and we were close in college. I’m just sad that some people feel the need to insult little kids’ decisions and think it’s okay. I just had to vent because my husband was pretty annoyed at the comment. I deleted him from my friends because ew.
