How did you take paci’s away from toddler effectively?

Question

Cold turkey? If you went cold turkey, how long did it take for them to stop asking for it?
Any specific steps? 
Anyone tried the frida weaning system? How did it work?

I cut the nipple off and showed her it was broken and made her throw it away so she knew it was gone

My first daughter we went to her 2 yo check up doctor told us she had to stop using it well my husband toke it away that night and she cried all night snd i cried with her cause i felt so bad she never asked for it again i promised i would never do that again well with my second she kept bitting pieces off and i kept giving her
The bitten one didn’t buy her a new one she threw it away herself when it was completely falling apart.

We did little by little. During the day if he was playing, we took it away because he didn’t need it for everyday activities. By 1 yr he only had it in the car and in his crib or when he was sick. By 18 mo, it was just at night in his crib. We did cold turkey for the car and that was rough. Daycare did cold turkey for naps and it was a breeze she said. Night sleeping he had it until about 27 mo. We didn’t want to take it away and bring a new baby home at the same time, so he kept it a bit longer. Dentist said that was fine. Then one day we took them while he was at daycare. When he asked for them, we said he was a big kid and big kids didn’t need them. Since we had a new baby using them, that made sense to him. He asked each night for a few nights and then forgot about it.

I got lucky, my baby got sick at 9 months with a sore throat so he didn’t wanna suck on his paci so I just threw them out & he didn’t care! Even after his cold passed. 😊

Luckily my kiddos didn’t care of the pacifier. So we didn’t have to worry about quitting. But if it were me in that situation, I’d just do it cold turkey.

Cold turkey. All of my kids have actually lost them and so I stopped buying them and just started soothing them to sleep either by bath and just patting them.

Let them give it to the paci fairy who gives it to little babies. Hang it out at night and the fairy puts a thankyou toy in it when she leaves (like the tooth fairy). That way if they ask for it, you remind them that they gave it away?  
Also no idea if this works, my child didn't use one but I saw it on super nanny.

Cold turkey. 
You just have to be willing to put up with the crying. They will cry, maybe a lot or maybe very little. 
Naps will take a little longer, getting to sleep will take a little longer but you can do it! 
If you don't want to go full cold turkey, go cold turkey when not sleeping. When they wake up, no paci. Then start taking it away during naps, and then during the night.

I took my soother from my daughter at around 18 months because she started chewing holes in it. She was always a fantastic sleeper. Took it away cold turkey. She cried ever nap and bedtime for 3 days for like 20 mins before falling asleep. I was finally like "Fine, have it back, just stop screaming." I put it in her mouth and she just popped it out, handed it to me and went to sleep. Has never used it since then. My son never took a soother.
