Almost 5 years unprotected

My coworker and I were chatting and I mentioned that it's been almost five years and my husband and I have never used protection and have had no pregnancy scares and she was extremely shocked she was like "wait what?!" I laughed it off but is that not common??? Like it's not that I want a baby right now but I'm almost at my mid twenties and my husband is almost at 30 which I didn't think was that old but she said what if I eventually want kids and it's too late? Lol idk I was just wondering if 5 years is a long time to not even have a scare??
