Does your husband bite his nails

My husband gets upset when I bring this up and I get the strong impression he can't stop. This gives me a ton of anxiety and I want him to stop!  Idk what to do!  It's like he doesn't care how this affects me. How can he stop?

My girlfriend does. She does it out of anxiety. It bothers me because I hate seeing her hands like that. Especially when they bleed. But I don’t say anything anymore because 1 it’s her body and 2 it makes her more anxious if I bring if it. She does talk to her therapist about it though. If it really bothers you think of something that can help him and bring it up.

Why do you get so bothered by it? It really only is affecting you become you are letting it affect you. It really doesn’t matter. Also some people do do it compulsively. If he is it’s not something the he can just stop. I have compulsions and if it can’t do they I get very upset. For me it’s like an itch that needs to be scratched. For some people it’s more severe then others though. For me it’s not that I want to do them it’s a need to do. It’s unfair for you to get upset about it and get mad at him, especially before is not actually affecting you. You telling him to stop literally won’t do anything. He needs to want to work through it. It could also be a coping mechanism, so maybe he should work on grounding techniques.

I bite mine because of anxiety. If my husband constantly told me that I need to stop because it’s gross or whatever, all that would do is make it worse because most of the time nail biters don’t want to be nail biters. I’d say keep your comments to yourself unless you actually have an idea on what could help him

Yeah, he bites his nails and especially the skin around them :/ So much that his fingers bleed almost daily... It looks pretty painful but he says he's numb to it now so it doesn't bother him 😅

Yes. He’s a chronic nail biter. I’ve been trying to help him stop for 2.5 years, but it’s his anxiety
