With contactless food delivery, is leaving the tip taped to the door rude?

We did contactless food delivery and left a note on our order saying “the tip will be taped to the door (:” and I got a message from the driver saying “taped to the door, really”. I thought that was completely fine and now I feel like an asshole. 
(They haven’t came yet but it was $13 in an envelope between my screen door and front door.)

Their response was completely uncalled for. I would’ve taken the tip back. A tip isn’t necessary and neither was their response. It’s contactless delivery, what do they expect, you to shake their hand and kiss their cheeks?

I mean if I'm ordering online then I just add the tip through the app but with that response they gave you I'd say they don't deserve a tip. Who complains about getting tipped?

Not rude at all! Their response is what’s rude! It’s amazing thinking and keeping yourself, family, and them safe! And they would be the one to bitch if you didn’t tip at all.

nope, i actually tuck mine under the doormat. i tip cash since doordash gives them the $6 tip regardless. ie if i tip $5, doordash gives them $1 on top. if i tip $0 (in app), doordash gives them $6. also makes sure i actually get my food on my doorstep lol. their response is super unnecessary.
