Is it okay to transform a closet into a "nursery"?
Hear me out lol
I'm not pregnant yet, but currently going through fertility treatments.
My husband and I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, but the second bedroom is my office. I have an Etsy shop, so I have to have that second bedroom for my office/studio. Unfortunately, there is no way around that.
We hope to start looking for a house this year, but I'm trying to come up with a backup plan in case we don't get a house in time.
My thought is to turn our master closet into an area for the baby to sleep. We hardly use our closet anyways. We have pets that have to sleep in our room, so I don't want the crib exposed in our bedroom. Our master closet is a good size walk in. I was thinking we would remove the closet racks/shelves and clear everything out. Put a crib in the closet, and replace the normal door with a screen door to allow air flow, while also keeping the pets out.
Is this a terrible idea? Are there any hazards with this that I haven't thought of? I'm really hoping we will just have a house in time.

EDIT: as I mentioned, we have pets that have to sleep in our bedroom. This is why I don't want the baby sleeping in the bedroom itself. Not that I don't trust my pets, but anything could happen. For example, we have a cat. She could climb into the crib and try to snuggle with the baby, but end up suffocating them. This is why I was asking about the closet (which is right next to my side of the bed) and replacing the door to keep the pets out, but still allowing air flow that a regular door would not allow.

EDIT 2: I am not prioritizing our pets over our baby. Distance wise, the closet is closer than where the crib would be in our room. I stand up out of bed, take two steps, and I'm in the closet.
