2nd percentile??

My LO was born at 36 weeks weighing 4lbs 13oz. At her 5 month check up, she weighed 11lbs 2oz and is about the 2nd percentile. Doctor recommended a dietician but I’m wondering if any of you had a tiny baby as well. Is she not getting enough breastmilk??

My son wasn’t on the chart until 9 months! He’s perfectly healthy and average size more at 2. He just took a while to grow. If you know your baby is getting enough to eat and nothing else is wrong, I wouldn’t worry about a dietician.

Percentiles are not test scores. You don’t need baby to be at a super high percentile for them to be healthy. Is there another reason they want you to see a dietitian? Has she dropped down in percentiles and they’re concerned? If she has always been small and she’s following her own growth curve then there is no issue with being at a 2 percentile. That is just her normal! People come in all shapes and sizes after all!
