She almost choked on a thumb tack

My niece is 10 months old.

I DO NOT know where the thumb tack came from. I had picked every spec of dirt out of my floor and set up the living room with a baby gate so she could crawl around freely. I vacuumed multiple times for this specific reason, so the floor would be clean of things she can put in her mouth.

My SIL (her mother) and I were literally watching her the entire time. And I swear on my life, I just had this feeling.. so I leaned down and opened her mouth and I saw a fucking thumb tack.

Have you ever heard someone’s voice and KNEW by the tone that they were fucking serious and that you needed to move? All I said was my SILs name and she flew over asking what was wrong and I said “:she has a thumb tack in her mouth. Hold her head completely still like dooont let her move.” And swooped out a thumb tack from my nieces mouth.

I have never felt so much fucking fear in my life. My SIL picked her up and teared up and I just held this slobery thumb tack like it was the enemy.

That feeling was so awful it was like if she swallows this will be so bad and if I push the thumb tack further back it’s going to be so bad.

Please don’t judge us like sometimes this stuff just happens sometimes it was a freak thing, I never even saw her put anything in her mouth and It was so terrifying

I already feel so guilty.
