Does your husband help you feel better about yourself?

I am asking the question in the title because I am curious to know what other marriages go through/look like. I know that no marriage is the same but what I am going through just doesn’t feel normal. My husband doesn’t help me feel beautiful. Instead, he calls me insecure. Half of me feels like it isn’t my husband’s job to make me feel beautiful but the other half of me feels that while it isn’t his job, he should still help make me feel beautiful. 😪

It's not your husband job to make you feel beautiful you should already have self confidence and self love you should carry your head high and walk into every room like you own it not because he says you do but because you already have that confidence in you however i think it's your husband should reassure you that you're beautiful he should not be calling you insecure and making you feel less than

My husband and I had this conversation. 
He does not feel that he is responsible for my emotions, if I feel a certain way it’s because I choose to feel that way. He’s right, and it’s true. However, there is such thing as empathy, and we choose to show each other we care about each other and we try to validate our feelings. That’s important, your husband cannot and should not be responsible to make you feel good about yourself, but he can show you he loves you. You need to love you too, he can’t do that for you.

It is definitely his job to make you feel good about yourself,  that's what a marriage is , if I have insecurities my husband puts them to rest,  i had 2 kids one as a c-section. And feel insecure all the time,  he tells me I'm beautiful just the way I am. And that he loves me, for all I went through.

I think this depends overall on a lot of factors. If you are truly insecure with yourself then your husband is likely not able to truly change that. For example, I am uncomfortable at a higher weight than my norm. So like now, after having a baby, I just don’t feel good in my own skin. I’m not beating myself up about it but it’s the truth. That is my issue because I know my husband still finds me beautiful and I know if were to walk around in booty shorts it’d take three seconds for him to be all over me and bugging me for some bedroom time and yet I still wouldn’t really feel that beautiful/sexy after getting that attention. Loved, yes. But it wouldn’t change my view of myself. However, my husband always makes me feel like HE thinks I’m beautiful and he always makes me feel loved and secure and that is very very much his responsibility in my opinion. There’s also a love language thing there, how much someone needs compliments or words of affirmation are also a factor for how well they function in a relationship and “feel” loved.

My husband is aware that my self esteem is kind of low so he does try to help me not feel that way!! It’s nice to know that he cares and he actually makes me feel better about myself.

My husband definitely helps! I feel like the responsibility lies with us both. I think it’s his job to lift me up when I’m down and make me feel like he thinks I’m the most beautiful woman in the world. But I also think it’s on me to deal with anxiety and insecurities that are happening internally. I don’t think it’s fair of me to only rely on him. He is wonderful and makes me feel so secure in myself and our relationship but I still struggle with insecurity. So I pray and read books and work on myself and see a therapist if necessary. A lot of my insecurity stems from stuff that happened when I was younger and I can’t expect him to fix all that. But it is 100% his job to make me feel secure in our relationship!

I’m insecure something I’m working on but it’s something my husband and I have discussed now I do agree it’s not his job to make me feel beautiful reassurance goes a long way. It should go both ways you should help him feel like he’s the most handsome man and he should help you feel like the most beautiful women. That’s my opinion. He shouldn’t call you insecure when all you need is some reassurance that’s extremely insensitive and anyone saying otherwise is just as insensitive.

Mine is encouraging. He’s ALWAYS made me feel good. When I’m feeling down he will tell me I’m beautiful and not to be hard on myself. He will even tell me his favorite things about me. When he speaks about me I feel good and it’s odd because when I look in the mirror again I feel better 🤷🏽‍♀️ lol I feel like I look 10 lbs lighter. 
I’m 4 mos pp and my emotional rollercoaster is ending lmao and he’s even offered to help me start lightly being active.
Flip side I’ve taken action as well. fixing the things I dislike and working on myself as a person. Being positive and finding your own happiness without him will help you.
