Mid cycle bleeding

I am so confused right now! I have been tracking my cycle post birth control and it had settled into a regular 28 day cycle, I finally thought I'd figured it out! I started my most recent cycle 17 Jan, seemed normal and I should have been ovulating this weekend just gone (even got an advanced digital opk to go with opk sticks). But instead I've had zero peaks on either test and have had increased spotting - I'd say it's heavy for me. Last Wed I had some discomfort on my lower right (during BDing felt like something was being knocked). I'm wondering if I might have had a burst cyst this cycle? Has anyone ever had one and experienced spotting? Or are AF and my cycle just messing with me for fun. I've not had any of my normal ovulation symptoms at all 😔
