Preemie progress ❤️

Willow

It’s been 5 days in the Nicu so far and 5 days post C-section!

We’ve had a lot of ups and downs with our little guy!!

But luckily for us he’s a strong boy with two strong mamas to back him up!

The first couple of days were hard. Blood sugar wasn’t normal, CPAP(anytime he came off cpap he’d turn blue), couldn’t maintain his own body temperature and kept getting too cold, his jaw wasn’t strong enough to bottle feed so he was tube fed.

Day 3 is when he decided he had enough of CPAP and proceeded to rip it off of his face. He was seriously over it!! Lol and our sweet little man made the first milestone of breathing on his own, and maintaining good oxygen (between 88-100) all by himself. He hasn’t had to go back to cannula or CPAP.

Look at him all proud of himself !! ( as he should be!)

Then his blood sugar got WAY better !! which was SUCH a relief and they were able to take his IV out. Here he is lookin comfy and definitely relaxed ! He made two great leaps on day 4, blood sugar being managed and being able to maintain his own body temperature!!

And then FINALLY!! his feeding tube came out, (he ripped that out too 😅 ) and he decided, today that he was ready to bottle feed and not be tube fed.

We’re proud mamas over here. Such a little guy making huge steps in his journey over the course of just a couple days.

Mamas with preemies who are struggling the same, it does get easier.

They do get better over time. It’s hard to watch them struggle, but keep cheering them on. Cause they’ll make those steps, and when they do it’s the most beautiful thing to see them overcome all of those obstacles, and suddenly the weight of it will be lifted off your shoulders. You’ll be holding you new little one and you’ll be so so proud of them and their strength.

To our sweet sweet son, thank you for every moment. Thank you for being in our family and being the most gentle, sweet and silly little guy that you are. We love watching you grow, and we grow even more in love with you day by day, moment to moment.

Here’s to our strong little man!

We love you Irÿdonis ❤️
