Dummy for breast fed baby?

What’s everyones opinion on a dummy for a 1 week old baby? He had the hang of bf and is latching well lots of wet and dirty nappies all seems to be going fine, but come bed he can’t self soothe after his milk and I don’t like him laying next to me in bed?

I gave mine a paci the day he was born and he breastfed and took paci very well

I have always given my babies pacifiers (dummys) within the first week. As long as you still feed on demand and don’t let the pacifier lengthen out the feedings it really shouldn’t cause issues

I did with my second son and he never really cared for it but would take it and it didn’t effect our breastfeeding.

The hospital gave my son a paci for his circumcision and we have finally started breastfeeding. We had problems in the beggining but not due to the paci (they were there before the paci was given to him). Its totally possible to use both if baby will take the paci.

My first had a dummy from a week old and we made it to 6 weeks bf before stopping but I was young and uninformed and thought it was for the best so nothing to do with the dummy. My second wouldn't take one at all. My 3rd is now 5 weeks old and this is day 2 of her having one. We are using 'nuk' and she takes it okay, not great and not every time I give it her but I'm being really careful of when I give it as I don't want it to hide hunger cues etc. We are using it purely because I have a 5yo and 19month old and can't be in 3 places at once, especially on the school run and she's screaming and I can do nothing about it 🤷🏼‍♀️

We did from the beginning with no problem. Successfully breast fed till 1 year. It just took a little to find one that worked. I was very appreciative of all the sample boxes I signed up for because I got a ton of different pacifiers
