Boyfriend didn’t say I love you back

Hi! My boyfriend and I are both 19 and have been dating for 5 months. I have been wanting to say I love you for a while but have been too nervous, I finally said it tonight and he didn’t say it back. He’s never been in a relationship and said he doesn’t love me yet so he can’t say it because he wants to really mean it when he does. He said he thinks it’ll take him longer because he’s never loved anyone that isn’t his family. I get this but I also feel sort of crushed, does anyone have any advice on what I should do?
