How do you know when you're ready for another baby?

My baby is 11 months old and I've had baby fever SO BAD the past 2 months. At times I really want another child and then other times I like how easy it is with what we have going and feel a second child would be more than I can handle right now. It's a mess really. Our first wasn't planned at all so how do you know when you're actually ready for #2?
We are financially ready and both agreed we'd be okay with another child. I just have random moments of doubts of taking care of 2 kids.

I’d personally wait another year for self healing, making sure your child is in a good routine, and your life seems stable. So for us at 34 this year, we plan to try next year.

I always wanted kids close in age so I wanted to try as soon as possible once it was safe (1 year). My cycle didn't come back until 13m, my first cycle was anovulatory then we got pregnant the next cycle! It was the best choice ever

Mine are 14 months a part and planned. We knew we wanted another. Best decision ever. Sure shes a handful but they both are seriously amazing. We are pregnant with #3 and will be born when my second is 2 years and 10 days old.

I’m the same. I had always wanted two children - but I have found the baby phase so difficult that at times the thought of having to do this again with a demanding toddler fills me with terror.
What’s worse is my husband is much older than I am; so it’s really a case of now or never. What will I regret more? Having an only child, or the stress of having two?!
Mercifully, I have a while to think on it at least - I’m following docs orders of 18 months between pregnancies so there’s still over a year before we need to decide.
But the back and forth in my mind has been nuts.
