Can an upset stomach cause labor? Read first

My husband made some pasta for dinner last night, he makes it’s fairly often bc it’s been my go to since being pregnant. I’ve never gotten an upset stomach from it but I woke up at 2am and my stomach HURT like I thought I was going to shit myself so I got up and ran to the bathroom and I had the worst diarrhea sorry tmi. After that I’ve been cramping since then, it’s now the next morning. Im 38 weeks.  I went to the bathroom about 3 times last night and I think I cleared it out but still cramping

Only if you're dehydrated. It cannot "cause" labor, but I had diarrhea for 2-2.5 weeks before delivering all 4 of my kids. So it's likely just a coincidence because you're getting closer to labor, not because of the pasta.

Yep, that’s why some people use castor oil 🤦🏻‍♀️ also like the other poster said, dehydration can cause contractions and cramping so if your body is ready, it may kickstart labor. My mom always likes to tell the story of her unknowingly eating a bunch of unwashed raspberries and having bad diarrhea the night before she had me 😂
No worries in your case, try to make sure you are replacing fluids. If you feel the cramping has a pattern, time it. Make sure your bag is all packed up. Good luck!

I’ve heard vomiting and diarrhea can. I’m 38 weeks and for some reason got really sick yesterday too - I was fine all day, just tired, and suddenly after lunch I got super sick and had an upset stomach until early afternoon today. Still no labor.
