When to tell?!?!??

So this is my second pregnancy currently 5w 2d and we wanted to wait to tell family until we knew the gender. I don’t really know if we’re gonna be able to wait that long BUT my bigger issue is when to tell work? I wanted to wait awhile but I’m constantly in and out of the bathroom and my nausea has been getting really bad. And I know if I tell one person the rest will find out which I’m fine with but I know risk of miscarriage is high in the first 12 weeks. I’m trying to tough it out and stay quiet until my first appt  but I feel like such a inconvenience to my co-workers especially since they don’t know why. I dont know what to do

For me, I waited until after 12 weeks on both pregnancies. However, there is a lot to be said for just being open from the beginning. Unfortunately that means you also have to envision a scenario of the worst happening, and that your colleagues would then be privy of that personal information. I would not want that personally. If you are OK with that, (as many many many are and why not!!), then you tell them whenever you like. 😘

I told my boss off the bat, I worked in a stock room. And a girl who worked with me miscarried due to carrying the heavy boxes we did. And thats why I told them. If I get pregnant again the whole family things out the door because my supervisor is my husbands aunt. We work for a huge ABA company, and I would with behaviorally challenging kids. So my safety is a concern

I was 20 weeks when I told work. And that’s only because I was showing a TON! So if my boss came in, he would clearly see.

I told my work at almost 20 weeks (so 5 months). I’d been super sick too so I thought for sure they at least suspected, but i guess no one did! Really I just wanted to wait until I started showing, so we could enjoy privacy for as long as possible, and it was great! I also felt like it was a respectful amount of time for my employer so they were aware - it gave them 4 months to find a temp replacement and to be aware. I’m an executive assistant so it’s not terribly hard to find a replacement, but if I had a more difficult to replace job I may have told them earlier so they could start the search earlier.
