Question

When is everyone washing baby’s clothes, bedding, towels etc? I’m 36w & just now starting to wash my little girls clothes, swaddles, hats and booties that were taking to the hospital with us. I didn’t want to start too soon that it wouldn’t stay fresh and clean, but I’m realizing she could come whenever at this point! Also, what are you packing for baby? What are you packing for yourself? I’m a FTM and a notorious overpacker 😬 but our hospital won’t let us leave and come back. Once you’re admitted you’re there to stay so I don’t want to forget anything!
Her:
- 3 swaddles
- 3 long sleeve onesies & pants with bootie feet bottoms
- pacis & a wuba-nub
- two going home outfits, NB & 0-3m
- small washcloths for baby’s 1st bath 
Me: 
- 2 nursing bras
- 3 sets of button jammies
- cozy socks
- towel
- pillow
- nipple butter
- lotion
- lip balm
- sandals for shower
- hair ties
- travel shampoo/conditioner 
- brush
- toothbrush/paste
- postpartum pads from Honeypot
- deodorant 
- going home clothes

Answer

You don't need to pack anything for the baby besides going home outfit and blanket if you need for the car. The hospital will provide baby's clothes and blankets and pacifier for the stay. 
It's fine to wash stuff now, the main concern is removing the chemicals from the manufacturer. It will still be clean enough in the baby's closet or drawers. It's actually good to wash ahead so it'll go ahead and skink if it will, and you'll know what size it'll actually end up being.

I’m 31 weeks and I’m planning to wash her hospital things this week so I can pack them. I’ll probably wash the rest of her towels, blankets, clothes (NB-3 months), swaddles, etc next week so I can hang them up and take stock count of what I still need. With my first baby I was like you and waited until 36 weeks, but this time I’m high risk for preterm labor/restricted growth so I’m trying to be more prepared.
As far as hospital things you really don’t need to bring anything for the baby other than a few going home outfits and possibly photo props if you want to take pictures. I’m bringing a blanket that my mom made and 3 going home outfits (2 NB size and 1 preemie size), but no pacifiers, washcloths, swaddles, or anything of that sort. With my first baby we kept him naked so they could do easy check ups, plus I didn’t want anything to rub his umbilical cord, but the hospital provided a swaddle and literally everything else that we needed.
Your list looks good, but I’m personally not bringing any pajamas, towels, or pillows for myself. I’d add a robe, face wash, face wipes, face moisturizer (or whatever you use for your skincare regimen), hair ties, file folder to hold hospital documents, a notepad with 2 pens, pediatrician info, phone+ extra long charger, snacks. Also make sure the shoes you bring for going home are slip on shoes so you don’t have to bend over to put them on.
