Teething fever ?

My baby is teething so bad and has a fever of 101.2 . I hear differing opinions about teething fevers but he’s been so fussy lately and his tooth broke thru and keeps pushing out ..& the tooth next to it is surfacing .

Call your doctor.  Most research shows that teething doesn’t cause fevers, so your child may be sick.

If he has a fever then it’s probably not from teething alone. Our pediatrician explained that with teething they create a lot of saliva, and that turns to mucous sometimes which can cause ear infections which often causes fevers in little ones. I would get her checked out to rule anything out. Our pediatrician always tells us teething alone does not cause fevers.

I’m no expert, but I’d give baby infant Tylenol to bring down the fever to start. Call the pediatrician if it doesn’t subside as it could be an infection. I’ve read that fevers aren’t really caused by teething? I’m not sure if that’s true, but I’d play it safer and check with the doctor.

I am here to say my son is currently working on tooth number 3 and this is his 3rd high fever. Last night it was 102.6 and Tylenol brought it down. The first fever might’ve been a coincidence but three teeth and three fevers.. not a coincidence.

Everything I have read, including feedback from my pediatrician says that fevers aren’t caused by teething, but both my girls have always gotten fevers when they have teeth breaking through the gum. They have never been simultaneously sick, so I know it’s not that. I always use Motrin to help with the temp and the swelling.
