Maternity leave

I am 32 weeks and 4 days as of today. My original due date was May 5th but my doctor is wanting to take me in for surgery (c-section) April 22nd (I will be 38 weeks). When should I go on maternity leave? March 26th or April 2nd? My job gives us 6,8 or 12 weeks to be off of work. I don’t want to leave too early and not have enough time with my baby or I don’t want to leave my job too close to my date either. Im also considering getting my tubes removed during my c-section as well.
