When to start spoon feeding

Hi guys, I'm wondering when do you start spoon feeding, I have a 3 month old , some websites say 3 months others say 4 to 6 months 🤷‍♀️ any insight would be great 😊 I also have a 5 year old so you think I would know but cannot remember when we started her x

6 months. any earlier can causes a variety of issues later on in life. I don’t see why people want to start earlier when food before 1 is just for fun anyway their main nutrient until their first birthday should be breast milk or formula.

This is more of a conversation between you & your pediatrician! Some doctors will give the pkay at 4 months if they think your baby is ready, some suggest waiting until 6 months! All for you & your pediatrician to talk over for what works best for your little one!🙂

My pediatrician said it use to be 6 months but now it’s closer to 4! If you have any questions though you could always call & ask them!

It depends on the baby! There are signs of readiness that they have to meet for both traditional purée feeding and BLW. Personally, I’m not in a rush to start solids/purées so I’ll be waiting a while. I don’t know that I’ll introduce it before a year at all, personally. My oldest didnt have any interest in food until around that point and it was stressful for me to keep offering food and him not wanting it so I’m just kinda going with the flow this time.

I always wait until they have teeth as that is the sign that their bodies are ready for more complex food. My kids usually start solids around 10 months. Remember, food before 1 is just for fun. Milk is their primary food source and then in becomes supplemental after age one with solids being primary.

I guess a lot of people recommend more 6mo now, but also a lot recommend baby led weaning. I’m asking my ped at his 4mo and going from there! I would love to start trying some stuff in the 4-6 mo range.
