My friend doesn't want her son anymore
My godson was born January 4 this year, so hes 2months now.
His mom is currently away in school and she is pretty young, the dad is a little older but not by very much and hes having a hard time as well, but not like mom. I was woken up to a call from the dad who has explained to me of what has been going on since Kyrion was about a week old. He has really bad colic and pretty much cries all day everyday to the point his mom says she doesn't want to be a mom anymore.
There isn't much I can do from where I am to help. Everything I tried to advise them, they've already tried it. I didn't experience this with my son who only got gassy in the evenings so I cant imagine feeling how they are. The only other option I gave them was to come home and I'll take care of him until they return for summer since I am home all the time. I could tell that he was considering the option, but for now he said no. Instead mom is packing to go get counselling but shes leaving dad and baby behind.
I feel bad because I probably made them feel like everything would be great because of how my son was as a newborn. I'd even told them not to stress because it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. But here they are losing their mind over their son. I'm still prepared to take him for the next 4 months if that's what they decide to do. I wish I had checked on them more often now, but since this is the first I'm hearing of the issue, they probably wouldn't have told me
