Week 13 Vaginal Bleeding / Spotting

Hello! I am currently 13 weeks 6 days and for a little over a week I have experienced on and off spotting ranging from dark red/brown to red red. I have not been experiencing cramping or heavy bleeding.

I did go to the ER at 12 w 4 days because it seemed that the amount was increasing and it was red, and I wanted to get everything checked out. The ultrasound, which was very thorough, and the cervical exam showed that everything was normal and baby was doing well! The spotting stops that night, and then began a few days later again to stop and then start again. I had to follow up appointment with my doctor today who did a brief ultrasound, and baby was still looking healthy and at the time of my appointment this morning, I had no spotting. Now however I do have more spotting that is red.

I'm just throwing this post out there in case anyone else is experiencing this or has experienced this. (I would be curious to hear others' stories!) They were unable to really give me a reason for bleeding, but because baby seems to be doing fine I am trying to stay as positive as possible, even though seeing blood is really scary! I guess sometimes we may not really know why there is some spotting, but never be afraid to talk to your doctor and get everything checked out! ♥️
