Break ??

Question

So me and my boyfriend are not happy in out relationship and I feel like I need space from him. I want to suggest a brake but I’m not 100% sure what it means?? 
1. Does it mean that we are not together anymore?? 
2. We are together but can talk to other people?? 
3. We are together just not communicating

It’s whatever is communicated about how the break goes. If you agree during the break that you aren’t together and it’s okay to see other people. If you agree to take a temporary break then come back. If you agree to take a break and find yourselves, but agree that you both would be better as friends. As long as it’s clear on what it is. Just don’t be like Ross and Rachel from friends 😂

A break is a break up in my opinion. If you’re taking a break from someone, it means you’re giving yourself time & space from that person to think & figure out what it is you want. & if during that time you meet someone else, then if the conversation comes back up about dating again, you can say “hey, I’m not interested in getting back together but we can still be friends.” & leave it at that.
