Sooo okay kinda cringey post but listen. My ex controlled how I dressed and what I did with my hair for years. 
When I finally got rid of him i felt free to wear and do what I want. My hair is black, I’m covered in tattoos and bought a bunch of black clothes because that’s what I like. I got tattooed like crazy, my money finally went were i have always wanted it to go 🤷‍♀️ I finally have control. I’m not being told I can’t do this and that because “it’s not attractive.” And after all these changes, I looked in the mirror and just felt happy. 
I realized when I went out in public I got STARED AT. ￼
My “look” isn’t extreme. I don’t have crazy makeup or crazy hair, It’s just all black, and people stare at me like I’m the freaking devil. 
I’m seriously wondering how people do this. How do you go about your life dressed how you want to dress because it makes you happy but you’re treated like crap because of it. 
It makes me not want to leave my house. I want to do what makes me happy but I also don’t want to be stared at like I’m gross.
No none of my tattoos are offensive. I’m not dense. Goth is probably the closest thing I can compare my look to, even though everyone who claims goth culture looks way better than me lmfao

Fellow goth here lol ( cringe 😬) I’ve found people are more so looking at my piercings/hair in my case if I do actually notice when someone is staring at me, I’ve gotten so used to it I kinda forget it happens. 
People might be looking at your tattoos regardless of if they are offensive or not. try not to focus on people who stare/make faces and remind yourself that this is what you like and are comfortable in soon you won’t notice it.

I suffered from social anxiety and for a long time I was frightened of being in public in normal clothing because I thought people would stare. 
Then when I got control over what I could wear I thought “give them a reason to stare”
You’re always going to get people who scoff at you being out there. But some people actually appreciate seeing people being individuals. 
I’d get weird looks a lot but some people would come up and actually give me compliments or ask where I got certain things.

I have a lot of tattoos. In the summer when I am in shorts and tank tops they are everywhere. Coverable for my jobs but I wore long sleeve scrubs so easy to cover haha. I just don't care lol. I have never followed fashion trends and have dermals and tattoos and could care less when others stare or make comments under their breath about my ability to be a mom or how I must do drugs...and I live in an area that tattoos/piercings/goth is common so depending on where you live I am sure it gets a lot. But just be you and let them stare. If you are happy then that is all that matters. In my last career before being a sahm I had patients we met with who had their whole body tattooed and modified to look like cats or aliens lol. They got ai am sure some real aggressive comments and looks but they accepted what they liked and who they were and owned their looks and were amazingly happy. If like the black and goth were it and screw anyone who judges you. I am sure you look beautiful!!!

i’ve had people stare at me simply cause my hair was dyed. and i only have two visible tattoos. try not to stress too much cause people are going to stare and judge regardless. look at yourself in the mirror and you tell yourself you are attractive and you look fuckin awesome!

I don't like putting it like this but I've had an alt style since I was 15. First started vkei/jrock. then progressed to more emo style, was the only person in my city with pink hair and that dressed the way I did. Now at 26 I still dress the way I did at 17 😂 except I have tattoos, piercings and I'm growing a buzz cut. Throughout aaaaall my hair colors and styles, people always stare. I kind of like it when they do 🤷🏻 it makes me feel like I look interesting. Own your style and dgaf what people say 🥰

I'm alternative, multiple ear piercings, dyed hair sometimes, lots of eyeliner, typically in combat boots, etc. 
Honestly, I don't give a rat's ass. It's my life. I'm gonna style myself how I see fit, and if anyone doesn't like it, they can kiss my pasty white ass <3

People are going to stare at you no matter what. Just dress how you want and be confident in your style. A lot of people just like to people watch. It doesn’t necessarily mean they’re judging you.
