Miscarriage medication

Unfortunately I am writing this post since I am currently having a “missed miscarriage”. I had no symptoms of a miscarriage and only found out that there was no heartbeat and that the fetus had stopped growing at our 8 week ultrasound 😔

My body did not start bleeding on it’s own, so I opted for the medication misoprostal (as I am deathly afraid of having a D&C). I inserted the 4 pills vaginally around 6:30pm last night and laid down for about 45 minutes after. I had pretty mild cramping all last night, which I did take 800mg ibuprofen at the same time I inserted the medication, so I’m sure that helped. Had no bleeding all night long and slept right through. I woke up this morning around 7am, and had some bleeding and cramping when I went to the bathroom, but nothing more than your average first day of a period. I have had bleeding throughout the whole day, but still nothing more than a typical period and regular period-like cramps. I’m currently waiting to see if it gets any worse? I have not really passed any clots or anything major. I want to make sure the medication works and that I do not need a D&C.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with this medication? I have read that some women do not get the heavy bleeding for some days later but I’m not sure if it’s working. This was my first pregnancy along with a first miscarriage so I don’t really know what to expect. Thanks!
