how early can i take a pregnancy test?

my boyfriend and i had (protected, with a condom) sex on march 14th and he finished in me (inside the condom). i'm not on the pill or any other bc methods. we just started dating recently and he's not a frequent condom user. when he took it off, it looked like there was less cum than i'm normally used to, but he didn't mention any breaks or leaks. i'm now on day 26 of my cycle when i almost always get my period on day 22. i don't have any PMS symptoms (i normally break out and get really irritable) or early pregnancy symptoms. nothing seems abnormal but i'd like to take a test to ease my mind. is it too soon to take one?
