Extremely low HCG suddenly.

I miscarried a couple months ago and one thing has been on my mind since.

I went and got confirmation for my pregnancy and my HCG levels were reading high (around 7-8 weeks). Less than a week later I experienced a miscarriage but was informed by the doctor that my HCG levels were reading around 300. Obviously that’s devastatingly low. I’m wondering if anyone else experienced such a sudden drop? I’ve read it takes a couple months to go back to normal levels but my body was clear after less than two weeks? Could there be something wrong with me?
