Hospital visit
Hello,
My GP has advised my 8 month olds weight has dropped from 50th percentile to 5th for weight and from 13th to less than 1 for head.
He’s had me waiting two months already as he was watching to see if anything would change, it got worse and not better.
Now my GP has had me waiting 2 weeks to hear from a paediatrician for an appointment. I have not yet had a call from them to book an appointment.
We have a very well known children’s hospital an hour and a half away that I could take my baby to. Or I could call the paediatrician he was seeing as a newborn and had a weight gain issue.
What do I do? Do I just keep waiting and do nothing? Do I take my baby to the children’s hospital?
I don’t know what to do. I feel like waiting isn’t the answer though.
Any advice or comments are appreciated.
Thank you for your time
**we have now been to the children’s hospital twice. I’m so happy I took him in both times. Ppl were telling me not to worry and that it’s not a big deal. It is a big deal. The doctors are concerned as to why his GP hadn’t already had us sent there. We have been referred to a clinic within the children’s hospital now for failure to thrive after hours of discussions with doctors, blood tests, a week of of diet change but no improvement.. I’m hoping that things will turn and he will get back to growing how he was before 4 months ago and gets back to where he should be weight, head circumference and height wise... Thank you for all your support and comments and time. I appreciate it**
