Am I Overreacting ??

My husband and I fell on hard times recently & we would ask his mom for a couple bucks like 25$ here and there, it was always she don't have it but turns around and buys a new car. She's not obligated to give him anything but she always ask him for money and to do things for her. She's a single mother and had two boys 7 & 8.

My husband just got lump some of money (not income tax or stimulus) and she already asking him for some. I told him don't give her anything she doesn't give him anything. But he said that's his mom and he needs to help her. He wants to give her 1000 i told him she would never do that for him. I'm furious. Am I over reacting?
