Hi everyone, first time getting a tattoo. It’s going to be on my thigh it’s coming out to $500. My question is, am I suppose to tip? & if so, how much?

My husband says at least $75-$100 depending on if you have a relationship with the artist or not. He got a tattoo last week that cost $150 and he tipped $50. My most expensive tattoo was $160 and with the tip i ended up paying $240-$250. 20% is a good rule of thumb but we tip artists more than we have a good relationship with. If they refuse tips one time we gift them with dinner, beer, weed, handyman services etc
