Am I over exaggerating!?!

Long story short. He's my absent father of 24 yrs. I've met him here and there but never more than if I had a random conversation of a stranger. Lately 2 weeks ago I made the choice to try to have a relationship with him.

Then also another thing I realized was even if he is sick. I feel like 100% he could have texted me saying "Hey sorry I haven't talked to you as much I've just been really sick lately but I just wanted you to know I'm not ignoring you and etc...." Like I feel if your trying to repair a relationship with a daughter after 24 yrs you make these efforts.

I mean your being agressive, it was YOUR idea to rekindle the relationship, in reality, your father or not, your not going to FORCE him to like you and want to have a relationship....

I think you’re being way over the top. It seems a bit aggressive for someone you barely know, father or not. If you’re slowly developing a relationship, it’s going to take time. It also seems super one sided. When you found out he was sick, you should’ve asked if he was okay and really turned your attention on what he has going on. It just seems overall selfish and aggressive.

I definitely agree that you are being aggressive. There had been plenty of times where I have been sick and I wouldn’t text for 3 days at a time or I become so busy with things I forget to respond. Just because he didn’t respond in the time you liked it doesn’t means he is ignoring you . If he has things going on then he has things going on. I understand he could have sent a quick text but, the way your talking to him in the text seems to be a bit much especially if you are the one who is trying to make the relationship work. I’m not saying your 100% wrong but, I will say you need to be able to see things from both sides not only yours.

This isn't just someone or a friend it is your father who abandoned you for 24yrs so yes he should be putting out ALL the effort to rebuild otherwise I would be done with messaging him unless he messaged me. He could of texted back even when sick. He wasn't in the hospital so it wasn't no emergency.

I’m sensing you’re super angry, and I think although I’m pretty good at just purging bad people from my life, I’ve never had an absent father and I can’t say with certainty that I wouldn’t lash the f* out at him lol. He’s your father and by the sounds of it, you’re crying out for love and he’s not having it. I’ve got a feeling your stark messages aren’t the first time you’ve expressed that you feel disappointed in him either. I’m only gonna speak on the response time. If a text is marked as read, I’m not going to go check it. I’ve had friends get to set with me for this as I’ve read a message but was too busy to respond and then just forgot about it as it was marked read. So I can see that being

😂 he’s a grown man he’ll answer when he chooses to. He doesn’t have to respond to you. And you don’t have to respond to him. Your the aggressor in this situation. People have shit going on in their lives, just like you. You need to understand that and let him be. If he never talks to you again what does it matter if he’s already missed your whole life? Why would you even want to be apart of someone’s life who CHOSE not to be apart of yours for this long?
