5 year old peeing his pants
My 5 year old has started peeing his pants at home for no reason. He doesn’t do it at school just at home. Yesterday he told me after peeing his pants that he didn’t want to stop watching videos and it “just came out” and every time he does it, he’s playing. So he just doesn’t want to stop playing or doing whatever he’s doing to go to the bathroom, so he just holds it until he pees himself. I talked to him and told him that no matter what he’s doing, he has to go pee when he has to pee, it’ll only take a minute and he can go right back to watching videos. But today he did it again and it was the same excuse. So I told him that if he does it again, videos are getting taken away, or anything else that is preventing him from going pee. Because to me if something is preventing him from doing such a basic task like going pee, he doesn’t need it. But I do feel bad, like is that too much? I know when they’re potty training you’re not supposed to discipline for accidents. But he’s been potty trained for over 2 years, hasn’t had an accident in like 2 years, and has only even wet the bed 1 time. He knows he shouldn’t do it, he just doesn’t care. So i guess I have to make him care. And talking to him does nothing, he’s just not a kid that can be reasoned with.
