Is my husband in the wrong?

I have a horrible relationship with my mother. I finally put up the boundary of not reaching out to her after she stonewalled me when I had a baby. After 4 months of not speaking to her I reached out for a visit because my husband kept encouraging me to see her. During our visit my mom was looking at my son and said “it’s amazing you made the decision to have him after you aborted the last one” I let it go but this is what my mom does. She communicates in abusive and mean ways. I told my husband what she said. When I try and talk to him about her he never shows compassion for my feelings. He thinks we need to keep the relationship in tact for our son. He said well I have to know the context and I also sometimes think about that and it’s so great we have our son and on and on. I walked away feeling so unsatisfied. I get nothing from him! He never takes me side with this and it’s so hard
