Side railing on bed?

If your 4 year old is in a twin bed do you have a side railing so he/she can’t fall out? We have one but I’m wondering if it’s still necessary.

We switched from a toddler bed with railings to a full size bed on her fourth bday. She hasn’t fallen out yet fingers crossed.

We have our son on a twin mattress on the floor still, which he occasionally falls off of and gets upset. He's always ending up sleeping sideways or half off the bed. If we had a bed not directly on the floor we would probably have a siderail.

My 4 year old has been in a twin bed without a railing for a year- it’s a pretty low frame and she has fallen out a few times but she just climbs back in.

Will is still in a toddler bed with partial rail. No plans to change anytime very soon.
