What do contractions feel like?

I’m a FTM and I don’t think I’ve even had Braxton Hicks that I know of? I had a NST and they said I was having contractions and I could see the spikes but I didn’t feel them! I want to recognize the signs! What did contractions feel like for you?

Those sound like contractions, could just be Braxton Hicks though. 
The other day I was getting checked out and had contractions on the monitor. They either felt like tightness, period cramps, or nothing at all. But those were not enough to be concerned that I was in labor -maybe just a sign labor is close or a false alarm. 
What the doctor basically told me is when you’re in full on labor, you will know! Haha. If your full term I would just monitor and not worry much! If your early maybe give a call to the doc or hospital just to see if they want you to be checked out or not, especially if they continue or get more painful :)

Braxton hicks was an uncomfortable tightness that went away in a few seconds. 
Actual contractions for me started in my back and moved to my front and were INTENSE. I cried.

Sometimes it’s like period cramps, other times it feels like bowel cramps

In my experience, Braxton hicks feels like your belly tightening but not painful. Real contractions feel like period cramps that keep getting worse.
