Can I leave the cats home alone for 2 nights?

My husband and I are going out of town for three days. Technically 1 because we’re leaving late one day, staying a full day out of town and the next day we’re coming back home. We’ve never been out of town for a short time, normally like a week or two at a time so we would always bring our pets. But if we can’t find anyone to watch them would it be okay if we left the cats home alone that long? They free feed and have one of those gravity feeders for food and water. They just hate car rides and I’d hate to bring them for like a day but I also hate just leaving them here.
