I want an official diagnosis and I don’t know how to get that
Based on my symptoms and the fact that I’m the only biological female in my family that still has a uterus, my gynecologist thinks I have endometriosis. He doesn’t even question it. He’s treating me for endometriosis with birth control, hormonal IUD.
However this isn’t a diagnosis. In Order to be officially diagnosed with endo you have to have an exploratory surgery because endometriosis can’t be picked up via ultrasound. I’ve had ALOT of ultrasounds because of my cysts (did I mention I have raging PCOS) and I look at my uterus like.. it’s a complete mystery dude and I want to know if I have the same thing as every other woman in my family.
I have nothing going on, no severe pain. Why? Because if I do have it, it’s being controlled. I literally don’t know how to call my OBGYN and be like “I want surgery to officially diagnose endometriosis.”
How do you GET there is my question. Do I just call and ask this man for a surgery like I’m ordering pizza? All the appointments have been done, ultrasounds, blood work, you name it. The symptoms are there and the solid diagnosis is not. He hasn’t said anything about the surgery so I didn’t push it but the more I think about it, I’m turning 25 this year. I need to know.
I may decide I want children some day. And knowing if I have endometriosis and wanting children goes hand in hand with just how long I can take being childless by choice for granted. THIS surgery is no walk in the park so don’t think I’m like out here being weird looking for surgery I’m trying to not think about the actual surgery but the fact that I want proof of all my reproductive systems faults
Any advice is appreciated
