Toxoplasmosis?

Hey guys, i have 2 cats and i recently found out i am pregnant. I work from home and my cats litter boxes are in my office. My cats are both indoor/outdoor cats and ive had them for 10 years. Can i get toxoplasmosis from breathing the same air where the litter is? One of my cats is a hunter and always comes back with mice, rats and birds. I stopped cleaning the litter box as soon as i found out and i moved the litter box somewhere else but now i am freaking out of the possibility of having it and what it might do to my baby as i worked in the same room where the litter was for the first 4 weeks of my pregnancy. No, you are fine. This is gross,  but you would have to ingest the infected poop to get it. Which could happen IF your cats were infected and IF you changed the litter box and got poop on your hands and didn't wash your hands and ate or wiped your face or something.  It is not air born. I was pregnant with my second and my cat became deathly ill. He was vomiting and pooped everywhere. It was bloody and disgusting and his breathing was labored. I panicked and rushed him to the vet and also cleaned everything bc I had a toddler and my house was covered in cat poop and vomit.  I washed my hands a lot after, and then of course my luck,  my cat had toxoplasmosis. I was TERRIFIED. I had cleaned so much poop. So my vet treated and kept my car quarantined and then he came back home.  Once they have it they will never have active spores again after the initial infection.  Long story to say I even handled infected poop and I was fine.  I did blood work and it was negative.

Just wear gloves and wash your hands after cleaning them. You should be okay. Also, you can get it just from vegetables that aren't properly washed. As others said, you would have to ingest it

Lol no you’ll be fine. Mine were the same indoor/outdoor- I cleaned the boxes with all my pregnancies 🤷🏻‍♀️ wear gloves.

Toxoplasmosis is not air born, you’d have to touch it with cuts on your hands. I also work from home with the litter box in my office. I’m not worried about it, wear gloves and you’re fine.
