Has anyone attempted to clean their toddlers ears?

One of my sons ear has a lot of wax on the outer ear. He won’t let me use a q tip to get it (I know q tips should never go in the ear but he won’t let me touch any part of his ear with one). 
How did y’all go about it?

Wet, rung out Washcloth during bath time or else it’s a no go for my daughter

My son won't let us near his ears or mouth so my husband has to pin him down while I get it done 😂 for his ears I bought some scoop things from Amazon

I slowly trained my daughter lol . Playing with her ears asking her if I can touch her ears.. she's got earrings and I did do a lot of cleaning at some point lol.. same thing with toes and her teeth . Mama has to look at your teeth can you open your mouth?

I use a qtip after bath when things are already wet from the tub. Usually while she drinks her milk. Also, I put the qtip in her ear the safe amount that you can and I’m very gentle.

I use a damp q tip to get things moving a little and then a dry one to get any big pieces. My daughter is good about letting me get things when I see them. I don't put it inside her ear obviously, but she gets gross pieces on the edge of her ear tht need to come out.
