My little guy hasn’t shown much interest in potty training so far, but last night he pooped in the tub. He seemed upset when he saw his poop in the water and I figured it just surprised him. I got him out and reassured him it was okay and he calmed down.

Well tonight in the tub he suddenly said, “poo poo” so I asked him if he had to poop. He said yes so I asked him if he wanted to sit on the potty, and he said yes. So I got him out and sat him on his potty where he peed pretty quickly and I praised him when he did. He sat a bit longer and a few minutes later actually pooped on the potty for the first time.

I praised him big time and was smiling and happy but as soon as he looked into the potty and saw his poop, he started crying again. I wiped him and he just kept crying until I took him out of the bathroom.

He didn’t have a difficult time pooping or anything, and both poops were soft. He just seemed genuinely upset about seeing his own poop.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I assume it’ll get better with time?
