It helps to watch videos of babies gagging and choking so you actually know the difference. And when to be genuinely concerned and what's normal.

It’s hard to watch but yep seeing videos first helps. Gagging actually is good for babies as it helps them learn what they can and can’t do

I was t worried but I’m infant COR certified so I learned a lot about the differences between gagging and choking and my LO didn’t like the texture of the purées so we did baby led weaning and it’s been great. He eats almost anything now that he’s older and loves meal time. Good luck!!

I didn’t do it with my first because I was terrified, but my second wasn’t really interested in purées so it was my only option.

I did too, so i started very slowly until i was comfortable... i started with pures but also introducing small food pieces here and there that are easy to eat like small pancake bites or a piece of my banana... by the time she was 10months thats when i completely stopped the purees (well i still give her soup). Do your research because sometimes they chock because parents may be giving the food in the wrong way... for example i had a scary moment with my daughter once when she was eating a plum, later i was telling my cousin and she told me that fruits like plums should be given in a certain way and i was doing it wrong so my advice is to go slowly to see how it goes but do your research to know how it should be done. The gagging is normal. When young like that I still did a lot of mashed things that I was eating. Potatoes, carrots, etc. For meat I just did long strips and she just sucked on them and chewed but didn’t get anything off. My first loved purées and my second loved baby led weaning. Both are fabulous eaters and not picky at all. Do what you feel comfortable with 😊

Not at all scary to me. I did a 💩 ton of research before hand. I’m also trained in infant cpr. I closely monitor what he eats and who feeds him (me or husband only). Look up “solid starts” and “feeding Littles”. 
Yes, baby has gagged on food. He has only choked once and I knew exactly what to do. Babies also gag and choke on purées.
