Potty training

When do y’all teach your toddler boys to pee standing up? I pretty much have my 2.5 yr old potty trained so he goes potty sitting down. Since my mom watches him during the week I FaceTimed her and told her and the first think she asked was “sitting down or standing up” so I said sitting cause he can’t even reach the toilet to sit he needs his little ladder. She said okay and then I hear my stepdad say “he’s not a little girl to pee sitting down” and I said well he’s still a baby and like I said can’t even reach the toilet so he sits. Now I feel like I potty trained him wrong 🥴
